For a narrow passage or a separate lawn, the key question is whether the chosen robot mower can reach the grass and return to its charger using a supported route. Advertised lawn capacity does not answer that question. Measure each bottleneck and check the installation manual before choosing a model.

Measure the whole passage
Record the narrowest usable width, passage length, gradient and surface. Include overhanging plants and the clearances required beside walls, borders and drops. A gap wider than the mower’s body may still be too narrow for its boundary setbacks or navigation system.
Check the specified minimum passage width and any extra rules for guide wires or transport paths. Automatic passage handling can help on models that support it, but it does not remove their installation limits. Avoid planning a route across public access or a driveway without the manufacturer’s explicit safe arrangement.
Check positioning under trees and beside buildings
A narrow corridor between buildings can restrict satellite visibility. Husqvarna’s EPOS guidance gives model-specific ways to assess such spaces and explains selected camera or boundary-wire support options. This is not evidence that every camera-equipped mower can navigate every shaded passage.
Confirm the complete positioning system and its requirements. Some systems need cloud connectivity across the lawn; others use a compatible local reference station or different sensors. Full garden Wi-Fi is not a universal requirement for a wire-free mower.
Distinguish connected and disconnected areas

If manual carrying would be awkward, factor that into the buying decision. A mower may meet the total area rating yet be inconvenient for daily use across steps, locked gates or inaccessible lawns.
Test the difficult route first
During installation, observe the mower entering the narrowest section, leaving it and returning to the charger. Check that boundaries and required barriers remain effective throughout. Keep the route clear and maintain the surface; new edging, overgrown plants or muddy ruts can change a previously workable passage.
